Ontario homeowners now have a streamlined path to significant savings. Through the Home Renovation Savings™ program, you can access $100 back per rough opening for high-performance window and door replacements.

Enbridge Gas OR Ontario electricity grid customers

Detached, semi, and townhomes. Natural gas or electric heat

Step 1

Consultation & Pre-Audit

Before any work begins, our team will meet with you to select your windows and doors. Once the project is scoped, you must have a Pre-Retrofit Energy Assessment performed by a registered Service Organization.

Step 2

Installation

To qualify for the window and door category, the program requires a minimum of three rough openings (windows, doors, or skylights) to be replaced with ENERGY STAR® certified products.

Step 3

Post-Retrofit Verification

After the installation is finished, your Energy Advisor returns for a Post-Retrofit Assessment. They verify that the energy-efficient upgrades match the initial recommendations and have been installed to standards.

Step 4

Rebate Filing & Payment

Following the final assessment, your registered Energy Advisor will file the necessary technical documentation for administrative approval. The Home Renovation Savings™ program provides a $100 rebate for every eligible rough opening, with no maximum limit on the total number of units.

Is the Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) still active in 2026?

The original HER program has concluded its intake. It has been replaced by the Home Renovation Savings™ program, an enhanced initiative by Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy. This new program offers more flexibility, including single-measure rebates for high-performance windows and doors.

How much can I receive for replacing my windows and doors?

You can receive $100 back for every rough opening replaced. To qualify, you must replace at least three window/skylight openings or one door opening with ENERGY STAR® certified products.

What does "Rough Opening" mean?

A rough opening refers to the structural hole in your wall. If you have a large bay window consisting of three separate units within one structural opening, it counts as one rough opening. Our team will help you calculate your exact rebate potential during your consultation.

Can I get a rebate if I only replace my windows?

Under the 2026 guidelines, most rebate paths require a minimum of two upgrades (e.g., Windows + Air Sealing or Windows + Insulation). However, certain "streamlined" paths may exist for specific heating types. We will help you select the most strategic bundle to ensure your project qualifies.

Are rental or secondary properties eligible?

Yes. Unlike previous federal grants, the Home Renovation Savings™ program is available for both primary and non-primary residences (rentals, cottages, etc.) located in Ontario and heated by a qualifying fuel source.

Does the program cover the cost of the energy audit?

Yes. Upon successful completion of your upgrades and final audit, the program provides a $600 reimbursement specifically to offset the cost of the energy assessments.
